Origin of the Teddy Bear

The name Teddy Bear has been a name we have all known for a stuffed bear toy. The teddy bear is actually named after President Theodore Roosevelt.

Roosevelt was on a hunting trip and they were not having much luck. The group came upon a small bear and the guides told him to shoot the bear. The president did not want to harm the animal. News of his kindness was reported. A cartoonist created a cartoon about Roosevelt's hunting rescue and a store owner saw the cartoon. The store owner thought of the idea of creating toy bears to sell in his store and named them after Theodore - Teddy - Roosevelt.
